In this monograph, author D.J. Ravindran provides an insightful documentation of the evolution of human rights standards and practice over three phases:
- The first phase or the standard setting phase (1948-1966)
- The second phase that was marked by the Cold War rhetoric, detente and collapse of the Soviet Union
- The third phase (1993 to present) that has seen an explosion in the range of issues taken up by human rights groups.
At the end, the author provides reflections upon the contemporary context and the challenges before the human rights movement.
The monograph has been published by the International Movement against All Forms of Discrimination and Racism – Asia Committee (IMADR-AC) and the South Asians for Human Rights, in 2019.
